40K down at Empire Games

Got in the first game of Warhammer 40K of 2012 with my son. I was playing my Orks and he was playing my Space Marines (Salamanders). It was a fun game, and I hope to get many more in this year.

It has been almost two months since my last post, boy do I feel like a slacker. Today I took my son down to Empire Games in Mesa to get in some gaming. We were met down there by our friend Dragi.

Dragi and Frank Jr. started off playing a small 15 point game of Warmachine, this would be my sons very first game of Warmachine. Frank Jr. was playing my Menoth, while Dragi was playing his Cygnar. It was a close heated battle, but Frank Jr. got the win in the end.

The second game, Dragi and Frank Jr. played a game of Lord of the Rings (LoTR), this also was the first time that Frank has played this game. It was a 300 point game, Dragi played with Aragorn and his lot, and Frank Jr. played dwarves with Gimli., It was a fun game to help teach Jr how to play, and in the end, Gimli took his dwarves to victory.

For the third game Frank Jr. and myself decided to get in a game to Warhammer 40K. It has been a long time since I was able to get in a game of 40K and I miss it. I played my Orks and Frank played my Space Marines (Salamanders). In the end Jr. took the win as we were playing kill points, and a lot of Orks died this day, lol.

Well, I got in some more gaming down at Empire Games, breaking in my new Warmachine army The Protectorate Of Menoth. I got in a couple of games with my friend Dragi, first we played a quick 15 point games with my new models, then I borrowed a few from him and we got in a 25 point game.

For my new Protectorate Of Menoth army I started out with buying the battle box, I also picked up the caster Feora, the Choir of Menoth, the Vassal of Menoth, and finally also purchased the Covenant of Menoth. This gave me a good base for my 15 points list.

It been awhile since I have posted anything. But last night on Friday I met my friend Dragi down at Empire Games. We got in a couple games of Warmachine. I still have not decided what will be my first Warmachine army. At first I was thinking of Cryx, but after playing some games using the Protectorate of Menoth, they may end up being my first battle box, then I may also get Cryx as my second army.

Met my friend Dragi down at Empire Games in Mesa, Az for my first games of Warmachine. We played a couple of games, just to get me used to the rules. I used to play Hordes a long time ago, and it seems getting into Warmachine will not be to bad. After the first two games we played things were slowly coming back to me.

I plan on playing Cryx for my Warmachine army. They models look really cool, and after reading though the Cryx book, it seems to be a good fit for me. I will post pictures of the first models I will be painting. I plan on buying the Cryx starter box, and possibly the Nightmare.

Sorry I have not posted in awhile, its been a crazy start to my summer. Hopefully I will get back into the swing of things and try to get in posts 2-3 times a week. I have many projects I would like to get done over the next couple of months. I just started a Skaven Warhammer Fantasy army that I have not really had any chance to work on. For Warhammer 40K I have my Necron army to work on, as well as finish my Space Marine Salamander army. For Lord of The Rings I have more models to paint for my Wood Elves.

So look for more updates I will posting lots of pictures as I get things painted.

Starting a Skaven army

I got the starter set for Warhammer Fantasy, I really like the Skaven models that came with it. I traded the High Elves in the set to a friend of mine, and he gave me the Skaven models from his set.

I have most of them put together, and will start painting them tonight. I should have the models I received from my friend Gyan put together tonight as well.

Had another great night of gaming down at Empire Games with my friend Dragi.

First we tried our hands at a Warhammer Fantasy game. I played my Night Goblins and Dragi played his Wood Elves. We are still both on the learning curve for this new edition so the game went pretty slow.

After we got in the practice Fantasy game, we got down to the big 600 point battle of LoTR. Below is a few pictures from the Lord of the Rings game.

Warhammer: Night Goblin Fanatics

I have not got done what I have wanted too over the past two weeks because I have been fighting the flu, and unfortunately, my son, daughter and wife also came down with the flu, and for the kids it turned into bronchitis. The family is feeling better now the kids are almost over what they had, and I am just trying to get the annoying cough to go away.

To cheer myself up, and change my mood from being sick, I broke out the paint brushes and decided to get some Night Goblin Fanatics painted up. I have had these two boxes (6 models total) of fanatics lying around for awhile to they just called out to me to get them painted up. Sorry about the bad image quality, still have my old camera.

With the new Orks and Goblins codex coming out, I have a renewed strength to redo this Night Goblin army and hopefully get some games in soon. It has been awhile since I have played a fantasy game, been hooked on 40K for a long while now.

I was digging through some of my old models I have thrown in a box and came across this troll I think came from the older Warhammer Fantasy starter box set. Not sure what to do with him now, he was started but never finished, should I try to strip the paint off or just try and fix what there. Any comments would help, not sure if I should try and use him or not.

LoTR - Wood Elf Army - Legolas

I finished the Legolas model a few weeks ago but just not took a picture of it for the blog. I feel he came out okay. Still need more practice when it comes to using inks.

Warhammer Fantasy: More Night Goblins Finished

I completed the Spear Chukka, I plan on building one more, as I can run two of them with only having them both count as one slot. I currently tying to decide whether to do a Goblin Doom Diver or a Goblin Rock Lobba. Might do both, haven't talked with anyone that has run either of these.

I also took a picture of my Night Goblin Boss and Night Goblin Shaman. For the Boss, I plan on eventually getting a different model, maybe the Night Goblin Boss on Giant Squig, or the Goblin Warboss on Gigantic Spider. Since I am running the Forest Goblin Spider Riders, I might go with the one on the Gigantic Spider.

Sorry about the images and the lighting, still have not picked up my new camera yet. Also need to work on getting better lighting for them when taking the pictures.

Broke out the brushes again and finished off 20 Night Goblins with bows. I am going to start another unit of Night Goblins with spears, a spear chukka, and some trolls this week. I'll post pics of each as I complete them.

Got a Warhammer 40K game in down at Empire Games in Mesa, Az on December 23rd.

I played my Orks while my son (Frank Jr.) played my Space Marines (Salamanders). It was a fun game, and today the Orks came out victorious with a few lucky Rokkit Launcha strikes at the right time.

Warhammer Fantasy - Night Goblin Army

I dusted off the paints and broke out my Night Goblins for some much needed painting/updating. With the new version of Fantasy that came out, I decided it was time to update this army to play in the new edition. The first units I worked on was my Night Goblin warriors. Below is a picture of a squad of 20, that I finished off. I plan on finishing off the other two 20 Night Goblin squads of the next couple of days.

This is a very fun army to play, and I look forward to getting in some games in the near future.

Warhammer 40K: Imperial Guard Vanquisher

Got in the mood again to work on my Warhammer 40K models, and since my Imperial Guard are lacking in the armour department, I decided to add another Leman Russ Vanquisher to my arsenal, as well as add two more Chimeras into the mix. I started assembly of all three and will post finished pictures in my next entry. Below is a few photos I took after the starting with the Vanquisher and the first Chimera.

Sorry I didn't post this earlier, but have been busy with other projects and not able to post as much as I would like to.

Got in a game with my friend Dragi down at Empire Games on Friday Aug 27th, it was a fun match only the second time that I have ever played LoTR so it was a learning game. Ended up getting the win, and it was fun to play something different then 40K. Hope to get some more games in the near future, as well as expanding my Wood Elves with some more models.

Worked some more on my Lord of The Rings models. I finished off my group of elves with swords. This now completes all the models I have for my Wood Elves. I will post a picture of all of them together in my next post.

I didn't paint the last group with swords yet, but I wanted to get something done today. So I worked on the command group. I havn't decided yet what to do with the banner so I just gave it solid color, and I may change it in the future.

I will try to work on the 8 elves with swords tommorow or Friday. Now that I have them painted I have to think about what models to get to expand my Wood Elves.

LoTR - Wood Elves

I have got the painting bug agian, so I decide to dust off an old box of LoTR Wood Elves and paint an eight man group with bows.

I wish that I had a better camera and better lighting to take this picture, but I didn't want to wait to post about my new painting job. Over the next week I will paint the next eight man group with spears and then the eight man group with swords. I will then finsih off what I have left with my LoTR Wood Elf models with the Wood Elf Command which comprises of the Captain and the Banner Bearer.

Hopefully those pictures will come out a little better as I have a plan on trying to improve the lighting for my pictures, and I'll post about that in my next blog entry. If anyone has any ideas for lighting suggestions please feel free to give me a comment.

Warhammer - Goblin Army

Did some more painting on my Goblin army. I finished off a team of Night Goblin Squig Herds. This unit sounds like it going to be fun to play.

Night Goblin Squig Herds

One of the most deadly of all creatures to be found in the deepest caverns is the Cave Squig. These are improbable, hybrid creatures, part fungus and part flesh, with tough, ball shaped bodies, clumsy taloned feet and huge gaping maws.

Night Goblins hunt Cave Squigs using long. sturdy forks called 'prodders' to goad the Squigs from thier hiding places and to keep the enraged beasts at bay. In battle, the herders prod and goad thier charges into a state of frenzy, before pointing them in the general direction of the enemy.

Below is some images I took of the first team. Teams are 2 herders and 3 squigs, you can join any group of teams together to form one unit, and they count as Special Unit. My goal is to put together between 3-5 teams to orm one unit.

One of my favorite hobbies.

Warhammer is a game of fantasy battles, using miniatures and terrain on a table top.

Currently I am playing two armies, my first army that I bought and started playing were the Tomb Kings, my second army is Orks and Goblins, and I'm mainly running them as a full Goblin army.
